Abstract

The low learning outcomes of students are caused by students who are less enthusiastic in receiving lessons, students tend to be quiet (passive), students feel bored in learning, students pay less attention to lessons, students like to discuss (talk) alone with other students, students have difficulty understanding the material presented by the teacher which has an impact on low student learning outcomes. This study uses a quantitative research approach with an experimental research type. The population in this study were students of class V A and V B SDN 8 Timporongan. Data collection techniques in this study were observation, tests, and documentation. The results showed that out of 23 students of class V SD Negeri 8 Timporongan, students obtained scores in the very low category of 0 (0%), low category of 2 (9%), medium category of 5 or (22%), high category of 6 (26%) and very high category of 10 (43%). After the average score of the posttest results of students after the application of the Problem Based Learning learning model from 23 students was converted into the 4 categories above, the average posttest results of science class V SD Negeri 8 Timporongan were classified as large, namely 86.96 with a good category. So it can be concluded that there are differences and changes in categories based on the percentage table of the results of the pretest-posttest science scores of grade V students of SD Negeri 8 Timporongan before and after the application of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) learning model for grade V students of SD Negeri 8 Timporongan.
