Abstract

This study aims to improve student learning outcomes in science subjects in grade IV of SDN 28 Pulau Sarappo Lompo through the application of the snowball throwing type of cooperative learning model. This type of research is a classroom action research (CAR) which is carried out in two cycles, with each cycle consisting of four stages, namely planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The subjects of this study were 19 grade IV students. Data collection techniques used include teacher and student observations, learning outcome evaluation tests at the end of each cycle, and learning documentation. through observation, learning outcome tests and documentation. The results of the study showed a significant increase in student learning outcomes from cycle I to cycle II. In cycle I, as many as 7 students (36.84%) achieved learning mastery with an average of 69%. While in cycle II, 19 students (100%) achieved learning mastery with an average of 85%. This shows that the application of the snowball throwing type of cooperative learning can significantly improve student learning outcomes. Thus, this learning model can be applied as an alternative to improve learning outcomes in science subjects in grade IV.
