Penerapan Model Picture and Picture untuk Meningkatkan Kemampuan Membaca Permulaan Siswa Kelas I

The background of this research is the low initial reading ability of first grade students of SD Negeri 41 Bontotene. This study aims to determine whether the application of the picture and picture model can improve the initial reading ability of first grade students of SD Negeri 41 Bontotene. This type of research uses Classroom Action Research. The subjects of this research were 26 first grade students of SD Negeri 41 Bontotene consisting of 15 male students and 11 female students. The design of this research uses the Arikunto model which consists of 2 cycles. Each cycle is carried out in three meetings. Data collection techniques used are observation, documentation and tests. This study uses descriptive qualitative data analysis techniques. The results of this study indicate that the application of the picture and picture model can improve students' initial reading ability. The increase in the percentage of student completion in the pre-action to cycle I was 34.62%, in cycle II 57.69% and increased in cycle III to 88.46% with the criteria achieved in the success indicator being 85%. Thus, it can be concluded that the application of the picture and picture model can improve initial reading ability.
